Mequon to Israel

David Litvin, 19, from Mequon was one of a record 127 soon-to-be Israel Defense Force soldiers from the U.S. that as a group made aliyah on Aug. 13. Litvin had contacted the Israel Center of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, according to Milwaukee co-emissary from Israel Michal Makov-Peled. The center linked him to the Zabar project that brings to Israel U.S. young people that want to join the IDF as a group, to make the transition somewhat easier. Litvin and the others also were part of a group of 351 olim brought to Israel by Nefesh B’Nefesh, an organization that seeks to promote and assist emigration to Israel from the U.S. and U.K. Photo by Shahar Azran.
