The Sarah Chudnow Community’s Summer Concert Series has begun and will continue every other Tuesday until Aug. 28. All performances will begin at 7 p.m., are free of charge, are open to the public, and take place at the facility, 10995 N. Market St. in Mequon.
On Tuesday, July 3, husband-and-wife duo Hazzan Jeremy and Amanda Stein will perform. Hazzan Stein joined Congregation Beth Israel in July 2009. In addition to singing, he is a guitarist and flutist. Amanda is a clarinetist, musicologist, and clarinet teacher.
On Tuesday, July 17, William Florescu of the Florentine Opera Company of Milwaukee will discuss Georges Bizet’s opera “Carmen.” In respect for the Jewish observance of Tisha B’Av commemorating the destruction of the Holy Temple, no music will be performed. Florescu is a vocal performer and director for more than 40 years.
On Tuesday, July 31, the Aaron Hetzel Trio — made up of Rick Aaron, Mike Hetzel Sr., and Mike Hetzel Jr. — will perform traditional Jewish music, jazz, and standards.
On Tuesday, Aug. 14, The Easy Days Quartet will perform in the barbershop quartet style. Together since 2008, Easy Days senior singers include tenor Bill Kilbourn, bass Dick Riege, baritone Bo Gibson, and lead singer Frank Marzocco.
On Tuesday, Aug. 28, singer Carmen Nickerson and pianist Kostia Efimov will perform.
