Milwaukee’s Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center received the Zahav Award (Gold Standard) at the biennial conference of the Jewish Community Centers Association of North America.
The event was held in New Orleans May 6-9.
The Milwaukee JCC won for “Truly outstanding, visionary initiatives with maximum impact or potential for change” in the area of Jewish Impact.
Additionally, Milwaukee JCC board members and civic leaders Jane Chernof and Howard Stern received the Esther Leah Ritz Emerging JCC Leader Award, named after noted Milwaukee Jewish activist Esther Leah Ritz (1918-2004).
Mark Shapiro is JCC executive director; Moshe Katz is its president. Milwaukeean Jane Gellman is president of the World Confederation of Jewish Community Centers.
