JWV Guten Auxiliary to present 11 scholarships

The Morris R. Guten Auxiliary No. 487, Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. will present 11 scholarships to high school graduates to use toward their first year of college at a ceremony on Sunday, May 20, 1 p.m., at the Jewish Home And Care Center, 1414 N. Prospect Avenue.

The community is invited. A reception will follow.

The names of the scholarships and the recipients are:

• Dr. Paul and Ann Guten Memorial Scholarship ($1500): Andrew Phillips.

• Nancy Lynn Radbil Memorial Scholarship ($1000) “In Memory of David Radbil”: Sam Carneol.

• Nancy Lynn Radbill Memorial Scholarship ($1000) “In Memory of Parker and Lucille Rosefelt”: Colin Komisar.

• Dr. Gary and Marcia Rose Scholarship ($1000): Zoe Russek.

• Harry Hecht Family Memorial Scholarship ($1000): Zachary S. Rosen.

• Zavik/Bubrick Memorial Award ($1000) “In Memory of Harry Zavik”: David Winston.

• Barbara Stein Scholarship ($500): Samuel Melton.

• Florence and Sammy Cohen Memorial Scholarship ($500): Alek Wasserman.

• Walter W. Peltz Memorial Scholarship ($500): Joseph Fassbender.

• Molly Matras Memorial Al Green Memorial Sandra Adland Honor Bernice Persten Honor Scholarship ($500): Mitchell Rowen.

• Morris R. Guten Auxiliary Scholarship ($500): Jacob Frazer.

Members of the scholarship committee include Faye Green, Edith Kohler, Joan Luck, Sylvia Spiegel, Bernice Persten, Helene Radbil, co-chair, and Arleen Peltz, chair.
