Rabbi Steven Adams of Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha is among the members of the Brookfield-Elm Grove Interfaith Network that is expressing support for the construction of a new mosque in Brookfield.
In the March 12 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Adams was quoted in an article as saying, “This is about the rights of decent human beings to have a place to worship. Part of our mission is to foster dialogue and support for religious expression, and we feel very strongly that this is in keeping with that.”
According to the article, the Islamic Society of Milwaukee is seeking to build a mosque and community center on 4.25 acres of land that it acquired in the Brookfield area in 2008.
The Brookfield Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on the project on May 7, 6:30 p.m.
