MilwaukeeanAnna Sarah Kaufman, 22, was scheduled to depart for Mozambique Sept. 27 to begin pre-service training as an education Peace Corps volunteer.
Upon graduation from volunteer training in December, Kaufman will teach chemistry at local Mozambique high schools and collaborate with local teachers to develop teaching materials and improve teaching techniques.
Kaufman is the daughter of Jan and Gary Kaufman and a graduate of Shorewood High School. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and biological aspects of conservation in 2011. After completing her Peace Corps service, Kaufman said she plans to enroll in medical school.
