Salman to be cantor for High Holidays at Menorah

Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer, senior rabbi of Temple Menorah, has announced that Cantor Marcos Salman will assist with the synagogue’s 2011 High Holidays services.

“We feel privileged to have such an outstanding chazzan on our bemah. His interpretation of the liturgy will inspire all of our congregants to have a meaningful and rewarding High Holiday experience,” he said in a release.

Salman, a lyric tenor, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He sang with his father, Cantor Eliezer Salman, beginning at age six.

He has performed at several prominent synagogues in Buenos Aires, the United States, South and Central America. In 1982 he was invited to be the permanent cantor of Temple Israel in Pennsylvania.

Salman returned to Buenos Aires in 2004 for family reasons and has served the community there for the last seven years.
