Milton A. Hoffman

Former Fox Point resident Milton A. Hoffman of Southfield, Mich., died June 26 of complications of old age. He was 97.

He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., graduated from high school there in 1930; and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from City College of New York in 1937. He came to Milwaukee in 1947 and worked as a stockbroker.

He was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and was a founding member of Congregation Shalom. According to his family, he enjoyed music, particularly opera, travel, reading, bridge, and theater.

His wife Beatrice (nee Engel) died in 2003. He is survived by daughter Amy (Mark) Haimann of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; sons Douglas (Shirlee) Hoffman of Chicago and Hugh (Robin) Hoffman of Fox Point; siblings Bert (Vincent) Witt and Pearl Mandel; sister-in-law Lotte Hoffman; companion Shirley Tainsky; and eight grandchildren.

Blane Goodman Funeral Services handled arrangements. Rabbi Steve Adams officiated at the funeral on June 29. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
