Jerome J. Traxler

Jerome J. Traxler of Fox Point died on June 16 of complications following fall. He was 92.

He was a Milwaukee native who graduated from Washington High School in 1937, and from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry in 1942, where he earned his doctor of optometry degree.

He worked as an optometrist in private practice, with his office at 61st St. and Fond du Lac Ave. He belonged to the Milwaukee Optometric Society, and the Wisconsin and American Optometric Associations.

He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel. According to his family, he was a Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan, and enjoyed bowling and “eating lunch with his cronies on Mondays and Thursdays.”

He is survived by his wife Ruth (nee Wiviott); daughter Jeanne (Robert Goisman) Traxler of Brookline, Mass.; son John (Anne Dayer) Traxler of Milwaukee; sister Jane Klitsner of Jerusalem; and five grandchildren.

Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled arrangements. Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated at the funeral on June 19. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
