The Jewish Community Pantry in June received its necessary permits from the city of Milwaukee to establish itself at a new site, 2930 W. Center St.
Dorene Paley, community services director at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center and the pantry’s director, said necessary remodeling work on the site will begin soon, and the pantry might be able to open “some time in August.”
The pantry’s previous site at 3033 W. Burleigh St. had to be closed due to damage from the torrential rain that also flooded many Milwaukee-area homes and streets on July 22, 2010. (See August 2010 Chronicle.)
