Rebecca “Becca” Guralnick has been named the recipient of the 2011 Ann Agulnick Young Leadership Award.
The award honors young women in the community who have demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership, a deep awareness and commitment to the challenges of Jewish communal life, and a dedication to ensure the continuity of the Jewish people.
The first award was presented in 1963 to Judy Kaplan, and past recipients have gone on to serve as campaign chairs, Women’s Division presidents, and presidents of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
Guralnick is the current co-chair of the Young Leadership Division and Young Leadership Council. She has served in this capacity since 2009.
She has served on the Annual Campaign Cabinet and the Women’s Division executive committee and board since 2007. She has been an active leader in many Federation campaign and outreach events, including Super Sunday, the Women’s Seder and Shalom Milwaukee.
She also volunteers for the Jewish community at large, working with the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center and the National Council of Jewish Women-Milwaukee Section.
Guralnick is a native of Winnipeg, Canada. She originally trained and practiced as an attorney in Montreal and Winnipeg, but shifted gears in 2000 to follow cooking, her true passion. She has a diploma in the culinary arts and teaches cooking, consults, caters, and offers personal chef services.
She is married to Michael, an urologist at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and they have two sons, Miles, 11, and Gabe, 9.
The award will be presented at the Women’s Division annual meeting on Tuesday, May 24. For more information, or to sign up for the event, please visit www.milwaukeejewish.org.
