In February, 16 Wisconsin rabbis signed a letter coordinated by the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism that opposed Gov. Scott Walker’s effort to eliminate collective bargaining for state employees.
These rabbis spanned the denominational spectrum and included every Reform rabbi in the state. They were: Rabbis Steve Adams, Renee Bauer, Marc E. Berkson, Jnathan Biatch, David Cohen, Dan Danson, Dena Feingold, Yosi Gordon, Jacob Herber, Bonnie Margulis, Simcha Prombaum, Michael M. Remson, Ronald M. Shapiro, Andrea Steinberger, Shlomo Wing, and Laurie Zimmerman.
The letter was sent to Wisconsin Senate leaders on March 1, according to a RAC release.
Despite massive protests, the measure was passed by the state legislature on March 9 and 10 and signed into law on March 11.
