Are you looking to start your own garden or expand an existing one? Do you force your bounty on unwilling neighbors, friends, or co-workers? Is there too much produce in your Community Supported Agriculture box for your family?
These and more questions will be answered at an “Urban Gardening” workshop co-sponsored by Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee and the Harry & Rose Family Jewish Community Center on Sunday, March 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the JCC.
In 2010, Tikkun Ha-Ir’s Garden Harvest Project donated more than 1,000 pounds of fresh produce to local food pantries and meal sites.
Collective efforts to plant surplus produce in urban gardens and donations from CSA boxes provided nourishing fresh food to the Hunger Task Force, Jewish Community Pantry, Feeding America, and Grand Avenue Club.
This year goals include expanding the amount of donated food as well as recipient agencies.
