He was born in New York City and graduated from high school there. After he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, he earned his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He practiced law in Milwaukee from 1951 to 2005. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, and he and his wife, Pearl Levine (nee Kahn), were members of ORT for a time; but according to his daughter, Barbara J. Levine (David S. Kaufer) of Pittsburgh, “He really devoted his life to practicing law and to his family.” The couple moved to Pittsburgh about three years ago.
In addition to his wife and daughter, he is survived by daughters Susan E. Feingold of Madison and Deborah L. Levine-Donnerstein (Edward Donnerstein) of Tucson, Ariz.; son Steven L. (Shari) Levine of St. Louis; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services and burial were in Pittsburgh.
