Professor Philip V. Bohlman, an ethnomusicologist and scholar of Jewish music from the University of Chicago, will be coming to Beloit College in February to be guest scholar and artist.
On Wednesday, Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m., he is scheduled to perform a program titled “Jewish Noir: Cabaret, Film Song, and the Crisis of European Modernity” with the New Budapest Orpheum Society. This event will take place in the college’s Eaton Chapel and is open to the public.
Bohlman will also be giving a lecture at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 16. In addition, plans call for Philip and Christine Bohlman to perform on Tuesday, Feb. 15, a melodrama written by composer Viktor Ullmann while he was in the Theresienstadt ghetto.
