MJDS grad manages band as senior project

Andrew Leib, a graduate of the Milwaukee Jewish Day School, brought his college senior project to Wisconsin last month — a “psychedelic rock group.”

Leib is a senior at Drexel University in Philadelphia, where he is majoring in entertainment and arts management. His project, as he explained in a telephone interview, is to manage Cheers Elephant, a Philadelphia-based rock band; and during winter break he brought the band to Wisconsin, where it performed in Madison on Dec. 14, and Milwaukee on Dec. 16 and 18.

Leib said the university required him to do two internships for his major. For his first, he served as assistant manager to a band out of Chicago. But for his second, “I decided to take things into my own hands,” and become the full manager for Cheers Elephant.

Leib said that after graduation, “I see myself moving west.” But Cheers Elephant is “doing extremely well,” having recently released a recording; so, “if we’re doing well, I can see myself working on it.”
