Jack C. Norman

Chemist Jack C. Norman, Ph.D., of Green Bay, died Oct. 29. He was 72.

He was born in Taunton, Mass., and earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry at the University of New Hampshire, and his doctorate in the subject at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Washington in Seattle, and then taught at the University of Kentucky in Lexington before moving to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1968. He became a full professor there, and worked there until he retired in 2002.

He was a member of Congregation Cnesses Israel. He enjoyed travelling with his family, particularly in western and northern Europe. He also liked gardening.

He is survived by his wife Carol (nee Owens); sons Jeffrey Norman of Green Bay and Jon Norman of Chicago; brothers Richard (Muriel) Norman of Fairlee, Vt., and David (Susan) Norman of Grantham, N.H.

Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at the funeral on Nov. 2. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial gathering was held in Green Bay on Dec. 5.
