Hillel Academy girl reads essay at White House

A Mequon student at The Academy (Hillel) read her award-winning essay at the White House in Washington, D.C., at the beginning of Chanukah.

Liora Bushee, 11, read the essay, titled “Light,” at the White House’s National Menorah lighting ceremony on Dec. 1. Her photo was featured in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Dec. 2.

Liora is a fifth grade student at The Academy, and the daughter of Deb and Glenn Bushee. Her parents and her siblings — Chana, 14, and Nathan, 7 — attended the ceremony.
