Michael Paul Brillman

Dentist and former Wisconsinite Michael Paul Brillman died of a stroke on March 3 in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was 70.

He was born in Appleton in 1939, and graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1958. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1962 and his D.D.S. from Marquette University Dental School some years thereafter.

He opened a dental office in West Allis in 1970 and worked there for 20 years; and he was a member of Congregations Beth Israel and Sinai during that time. In 1990, he sold the practice and moved with his wife Carol (nee Rudberg) to Scottsdale.

There, the couple opened a business, Mercury Stamp & Image, which made stamps for signatures, addresses, and other purposes. He belonged to the International Marking and Identification Association.

Although he didn’t practice dentistry in Scottsdale, he joined the Arizona Dental Association because “he liked to keep up” with the profession, according to his wife. He also loved football and was a volunteer for the Fiesta Bowl Association, his wife said.

In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by daughter Robyn (Brian) McFarland of Mesa, Ariz., and one grandson.

The funeral took place in Arizona on March 29. Burial was in Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Phoenix.
