Melvin Shikora

 Melvin Shikora of Whitefish Bay died of liver disease on March 3. He was 76.

He was born in Newark, N.J., graduated from high school in 1947, and attended Upsala College and Seton Hall University, graduating from the latter in 1955. He came to Milwaukee in 1957.

He was a businessman who became president and chief executive officer of Eder Manufacturing Co. He was active in Milwaukee-area community theater, including the Shorewood Players and the Jewish Community Center Players, and won many best actor awards. He also did television commercials.

He was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.

He is survived by wife Barbara (nee Eder) Shikora; daughter Joan (William) Kantor of Katonah, N.Y.; sons Joseph Shikora of Milwaukee and Jonathan (Meredith) Shikora of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.

Blane Goodman Funeral Services handled funeral arrangements. A funeral service took place March 7 at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, with Rabbi Marc Berkson officiating. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, Jewish Museum Milwaukee, or The Shul.
