Leon Mollick

Leon Mollick of Delray Beach, Fla., died April 9 from complications of myelofibrosis. He was 87.

A New York native, he attended Stuyvesant High School, City College of New York and the Polytechnic Institute of New York. He worked as a mechanical engineer for the military in Cape Canaveral, Fla., Fort Worth, Texas, and at sites in New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois and then Wisconsin.

Upon moving to Milwaukee in 1966, he became director of engineering for Nordberg Manufacturing, which later became Rexnord. After he retired, he continued to consult.

He served on the boards of Congregation Beth Israel and the B’nai B’rith Institute of Judaism (later called the Wisconsin Institute of Judaism, which folded in 2009). He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, a longstanding chavurah group and a play-reading group.

He enjoyed playing bridge, chess, poker, golf and bowling. “He will remain an inspiration to [his family] for his brilliant mind, patience, sense of humor, kind demeanor and love of family, tradition, travel and lifelong learning,” his family wrote.

Graveside services were held at Second Home Cemetery. Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated. Goodman Bensman Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gertrude Mollick; sons Shep (Linda) Mollick of Bayside and Mark (Christine Joseph) Mollick of Edison, N.J.; daughter Aura Mollick Hirschman of Milwaukee; brothers Isadore Mollick of Delray Beach, Fla., and Milton (Ruth) Mollick of Allentown, Penn.; and six grandchildren.
