Bernard Elliot Komisar

 Milwaukee native Bernard Elliot Komisar died April 9 at age 85.

He graduated from North Division High School in 1942 and served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II.

After the war, he attended the University of Detroit, the University of Wisconsin-Extension and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, from which he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1948.

A certified public accountant, he was a founding partner of Komisar Brady & Co., where he worked for more than 50 years. He was a member of the American Institute and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He was a member of Congregation Shalom.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Jacobson Komisar; sons Jeffrey (Barbara) Komisar and Andrew (Shannon Corallo) Komisar, both of Whitefish Bay, and William (Rebecca) Komisar of Bayside; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Congregation Shalom and burial was in Second Home Cemetery. Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
