Norman Goldberg, the man known as the Candy Man to many, died April 4 at age 90.
He earned the nickname by regularly distributing candy to children and adults at his synagogue, Congregation Beth Jehudah, and school, his family said.
A Milwaukee native, Goldberg worked as a metal recycler for Joe Stevens Scrap Metal. He was a 32nd degree mason. His nephew Louis (Dolly) Friedman and niece Lynn (Jeff) Marcus, both of Milwaukee, cared for him in recent years.
He was preceded in death by wife Ruth Goldberg (nee Hirschbein) and is survived by his brother Herman Goldberg of Deerfield, Ill., and 12 nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Agudas Achim Cemetery. Rabbi Benzion Twerski officiated and the Jewish Community Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
The family would appreciate memorial contributions to Congregation Beth Jehudah, 3100 N. 52nd. St., Milwaukee, WI 53216.
