Victor Resnick

Milwaukee native Victor Resnick died Nov. 18 at age 98.

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, he became a certified public accountant and worked as an auditor for the State of Wisconsin. He later joined his family business and became a managing director of the National Avenue Laundry, which later became the Polly Prim Laundries.

His wife of 35 years, Sara Stein Resnick, died in 1970. Two years later, he married Patricia Resnick and moved to Tucson, Ariz.

He was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue in Milwaukee and Temple Emanuel in Tucson. A lifetime member of B’nai B’rith, he supported Israel and the Desert Caucus.

“He and Patricia built a strong and formidable partnership in marriage and at the bridge table, entering local and national tournaments with much success,” his family said.

“A serious, hard-working man and traditional breadwinner in his youth and working years, he adjusted to new cultural norms through late century and ultimately became quite expert at many vital domestic tasks, including telling family stories.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Rachelle Resnick of San Francisco; sons William (Johanna Brenner) Resnick of Portland, Ore., Lawrence (Marilyn) Resnick of Los Angeles, and Ronald Resnick of Maui, Hawaii; stepson Jon Malnekoff of San Clemente, Calif.; stepdaughter Diane Malnekoff of Santa Rose, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun. Burial was at Mound Zion Cemetery. Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
