Thomas R. Parr

 Art gallery owner Thomas R. Parr died on Oct. 6 of liver disease. The 66-year-old lived in Petropolis, Brazil.

A Milwaukee native, Parr graduated from Custer High School in 1961. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1965 and went on to earn a Master of Language degree from New York University.

Owner of Gallery Parr in New York City, Parr also taught English in Petropolis. He had particular interest in writing and publishing prose.

He is survived by brother Sheppard Parr of Boynton Beach, Fla.; daughter Bridget VanMeans of Chicago; and nephews Andrew Parr of Clearwater, Fla., and Jeffrey Parr of Denver, Colo.

Burial was in Rio de Janeiro.
