Milton Marvin Horowitz died at age 91 from kidney failure on May 18. Born in Brooklyn, he moved with his family to Port Washington and then Milwaukee.
He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war, he served as a tech sergeant in the Air Force Reserves at General Mitchell Field and spent the rest of his career working as an aircraft mechanic with the 128th Air Refueling Group of the Air National Guard.
A longtime member of Temple Menorah, he was active in the Guten Post of the Jewish War Veterans and B’nai B’rith.
His hobbies included league bowling, golfing and collecting stamps, coins and rocks. According to his family, he will be remembered for “his steadfast honesty, positive uplifting spirit and his tremendous singing voice.”
His wife of 59 years, Tina Horowitz, nee Edelstein, died in 2007. He is survived by daughters Donna Horowitz of Fond Du Lac and Sally (Brian) Stern of Milwaukee; sons Edward Horowitz and Joel Horowitz, both of Milwaukee; and five grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Jewish Community Funeral Home. Services were held on May 20, followed by burial in Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery. Rabbis Boruch Comrov and Gil Ezer Lerer officiated.
Trees planted in Israel through the Jewish National Fund or memorial donations to the Jewish Community Food Pantry would be appreciated by the family.
