Dennis J. Maiman, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed chairman of the Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Neurosurgery and director of Clinical Neurosciences at Froedtert Hospital.
Professor of neurosurgery at the Medical College, Maiman specializes in the management of complex spinal disorders. He previously served as medical director of the Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin SpineCare Clinic and director of the Spinal Cord Injury Center at Froedtert, all of which he helped create. He also was director of the college’s spinal surgery fellowship and director of the Clinical Neurosciences Center at Froedert.
Maiman’s research focuses on spinal injuries and the use of pulsed magnetic fields and stem cell-based therapies. Director of the Wisconsin Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network, he has written 140 peer-reviewed publications, edited a definitive text on spine surgery and lectured internationally.
He received his medical degree from the Medical College in 1977 and has been employed there since 1982.
