Native Milwaukeean Albert M. Deshur died March 16 of a stroke. A resident of Mequon, he was 94.
After graduating from Washington High School in 1932, he attended the University of Wisconsin for one year. In 1937, he married Ann Grossman.
In 1948, he started a real estate development firm with his brother in law. Norman Nadler. The firm, now called Deshur Homes Co., is now run by his son, James (Penny) Deshur.
In 1960, he and Nadler opened Hampton State Bank. “He financed a lot of Jewish immigrants who were new in the building business,” his son said.
Professional involvements included the Metropolitan Builder’s Association and the Milwaukee Board of Realtors.
A member of Congregation Shalom, Deshur was actively involved in the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and Development Corporation for Israel, Israel Bonds. A member of Brynwood Country Club, he particularly liked to play golf, his son said.
Preceded in death by his wife Ann G. Deshur in 1997, he is survived by sons James and William (Debra) Deshur; and daughters Roberta (Bob Goldberg) Dinkin and Hedy (Alan) Daniel, all of Milwaukee. He had 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled the arrangements. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at funeral services on March 19. Burial was in Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel cemetery.
