Ruth Wiernick

Native Milwaukeean Ruth Wiernick died of heart failure March 9 at the age of 93.

A 1933 graduate of North Division High School, Wiernick served in the Women’s Army Corps where she was promoted to staff sergeant. She had a 25-year career in Chicago as office manager, bookkeeper and cost accountant for Faber Drugs.

She was especially interested in reading and baseball and “loved being part of family events and adored all the members of her family,” according to her family.

She was preceded in death by sister Celia Lakes and brother Herman Wiernick. She is survived by sister Rose Wiernick of Milwaukee.

Goodman Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Rabbi Steven Adams officiated at graveside services on March 11. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.
