Rollyn Karas

Longtime Milwaukee resident Rollyn Karas (nee Agulnick) of Glendale died Feb. 24 from complications of surgery. She was 80.

Born in Chicago, she moved to Milwaukee with her family during her first year of life. She graduated from Shorewood High School in 1947 and from Sargent College of Boston University in 1952.

Karas worked as a medical technologist with a specialty in renal medicine. She served as president of the Hadassah Milwaukee and Reading, Penn., chapters and also of the Great Lakes Region of Hadassah.

Her special interests included bridge and swimming.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Howard Karas; daughter Caron (Michael) Rice of Milwaukee; sons Dr. Bradley (Pam) Karas of Louisville, Ky.; Dr. Richard (Dr. Alicia) Karas of Boston and Daniel (Tracy) Karas of Glendale; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at funeral services on March 2. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
