Shayna Illingworth, a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has been selected as a finalist for one of the 2009 Student Awards presented by NICHE magazine.
Illingworth, a graduate of Homestead High School, lives in Kohler and has a studio in Sheboygan. She is being considered for an award in the Jewelry: Fine category for her Claude Brooch Series. She is the daughter of Vilma and John Illingworth of Mequon.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 15, during the Philadelphia Buyers Market of American Craft, which is the nation’s largest wholesale craft show, according to the release.
Only 69 entries of nearly 900 submissions were named as finalists in this year’s competition, according to the release.
