Milwaukee native Burton Hiken died of natural causes on Nov. 18. He was 83.
Hiken went to Washington High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He owned and operated Midwest Sporting Goods until his retirement. A pioneer in professional sport promotions, he counted many major and minor league teams among his loyal customers, according to his family.
Hiken’s family said, “He was a loving and generous father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all of his family.”
He was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and Milwaukee Harmony #261 Free and Accepted Masons of Wisconsin.
He is survived by daughters Cathy (Raiko) Hartman of Los Angeles, Margie Hiken of San Diego and Patti (James) Gutglass of Milwaukee; and four grandchildren.
Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled funeral and burial arrangements. Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at graveside services in Spring Hill Cemetery on Nov. 21.
