Sophie Jian Wasserman will celebrate becoming a bat mitzvah on Sept. 27 at Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha. She is the daughter of Amy Wasserman of Brookfield and the sister of Alexander, 11.
The maternal grandparents are Judith and Herb Wasserman of Sarasota, Fla.
Sophie is a student at Wisconsin Hills Middle School.
