Sylvia Libber-Mitz

Sylvia Libber-Mitz died on Aug. 18 of cancer. She was 85.
Born in Boston, she graduated from Wakefield High School in 1939 and from the Boston College School of Nursing in 1942.

Libber-Mitz moved to Milwaukee in 1954 and, for many years, worked as a nurse at the Milwaukee Jewish Home and Care Center.

She was a member of Congregation Shalom. She volunteered for Congregations Shalom and Beth Israel and for the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.

According to her family, she enjoyed bridge, water aerobics, baking, cooking, and crocheting.

Husband Edward B. Libber preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by son Tobias (Cheryl) Libber of Milwaukee; daughters Lori (Gary) Edelstein of Madison and Ceilanne (Rabbi Isaac Serotta) Libber of Chicago; and eight grandchildren.

Rabbis Isaac Serotta and Ronald Shapiro officiated at services held at Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home on Aug. 22. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.
