Rosalyn Levin Zaret of Glendale died of heart failure on April 5. She was 92.
Zaret was born in Milwaukee. She graduated from Riverside High School, earned her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in 1937, and received her teacher’s certification from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1966.
Zaret was on the group board of Hadassah-Milwaukee Chapter, past president and board member of the Jewish Home and Care Center Hand in Hand Women’s Service Auxiliary, and a life member of the National Council of Jewish Women-Milwaukee Section.
She was a member of Women’s American ORT-Wisconsin Chapter, Jewish Women International, the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, the Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning, Inc., the former Friends of Jewish Family and Children’s Services, the Coalition for Jewish Learning, the Association of Reform Zionists, and the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, among others.
During her lifetime, Zaret belonged to Congregation Sinai, Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, Congregation Beth Israel’s Sisterhood and Congregation Anshe Sfard Kehillat Torah’s Sisterhood.
According to her family, Zaret also enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, reading, and attending Jewish lectures and programs.
She was preceded in death by husbands Arthur A. Levin, Simon Wasserman and Ben Zaret. She is survived by sons Lloyd (Sheri) Levin of Milwaukee and Jim (Joni Perlette) Levin of Nashotah, Wis.; daughter Ardis (Marshall) Zarem of Milwaukee; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Rabbi David Cohen officiated at funeral services held at Congregation Sinai on April 8. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
