Beatrice Kapper

Milwaukee native Beatrice Kapper (nee Rabinovitz) died of pneumonia on May 7. She was 87.

Kapper graduated from North Division High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1943. She was accepted to the UW School of Medicine, but worked primarily as a homemaker.

An active member of the Jewish community, Kapper was a member of Hadassah-Milwaukee Chapter, NA’AMAT USA-Milwaukee Council, the Jewish National Fund, B’nai B’rith and Congregation Sinai, among other organizations.

“Beatrice was an active member of each community she lived in … she helped people connect to each other, for their happiness and success. She was extremely devoted to her immediate and extended family and treasured all moments when the family was together for a holiday or celebration,” her family said in a statement.

Kapper is survived by her husband of 63 years Edward Kapper of Mequon; sons Howard (Brenda) Kapper and Charles Kapper, both of Milwaukee, and Miles (Robin) Kapper of Los Angeles; daughter Sally (David) Moskol and sister Helen (Jerry) Sher, both of Milwaukee; brother Lee (Beverly) Robbins of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Suminski/Weiss Funeral Home. Services were officiated by Rabbi David Cohen at Congregation Sinai on May 9. Burial was at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Congregation Sinai Music Fund, the Jewish National Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated by the family.
