A son, Ari Nathaniel, was born May 29 to Beth and Aaron Bernstein of Austin, Texas. He is their first child.

The baby’s Hebrew name, Simcha Shir, is in memory of his maternal great-grandmother, Celia Lakes (Sima), and his paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Muffs (Sura).
