Madison native William P. Shapiro died on Feb. 18. He was 89.
Husband of the late Betty Shapiro (nee Goldman), Shapiro served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Medical Corps during World War II. After returning from the war, Shapiro worked in sales and raised his family in Milwaukee.
Shapiro is further preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by sons Russell (Sue) Shapiro of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Michael (Luda) Shapiro of Kohler; daughter Sheryl (Douglas) Kalvin of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; sister Jean Dennenberg of Baltimore, Md.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Jewish Community Funeral Home. Rabbi Shlomo Pontos officiated at graveside services at Second Home Cemetery on Feb. 20.
The family appreciates memorial contributions to the Jewish Home and Care Center.
