Longtime Milwaukeean Dr. Zachary Slomovitz died of Parkinson Disease Nov. 8 at the age of 85.
Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Milwaukee as a child and graduated from Bay View High School.
A graduate of Marquette University, he earned a medical degree there in 1943 and practiced medicine at the Mitchell Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, the Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning, Friends of NA’AMAT U.S.A. and American Friends of Hebrew University.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Slomovitz (née Zevin); daughters Elayne Ben-Bassat of Newark, Del., and Dr. Deborah Bunim of Cliffside Park, N.J.; and four grandchildren.
Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated at funeral services Nov. 10. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
