Students win ‘Living Generously’ contest

Following are the three top essays of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s student essay contest on the subject, “Living Generously: What Does This Mean to You?” for Jewish students in grades 3-8.

A reference to the tagline of the 2007 Annual Campaign, the topic was chosen as a way to “encourage young people to consider and explore the meaning of the key Jewish value of tzedakah,” said contest chair Patricia Chamoy.

Winning essays were selected in three categories: grades 3-4, grades 5-6 and grades 7-8. Top winners were announced at the campaign celebration event, held on Nov. 1 at Congregation Shalom. They will receive $150 toward their Passport to Israel accounts.
