Steven William Stone

Glendale resident Steven William Stone died in a plane crash accident on July 20. He was 44.

He graduated from Nicolet High School in 1979 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1983. He was a recipient of the Golden Key award from Phi Beta Kappa.
He was a jeweler with Stone’s Jewelry Company in Milwaukee, and was a board member of Leading Jewelers.

According to his family, he “had a gusto for life.” He “loved flying, enjoyed skydiving, and built rockets to thrill his nieces and nephews.” His other special interests included playing cards, reading, music and working.

He “truly loved all children,” his family said. “He was a big part of his nieces and nephews lives and they were a huge part of his. He cherished every detail and story about them. He also adored the children of his many friends.”

He is survived by his parents, Anita and Bob Stone of Glendale; sister Nancy (Scott) Phillips of Whitefish Bay; brother James (Helena) Stone of Clifton, N.J.; and four nephews and two nieces.

Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated at funeral services July 22. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Steven Stone Memorial Fund, Yeshiva Katana, One Main Ave., Passaic, N.J., 07055, would be appreciated by the family.
