Madison native Sol Rabinowitz of Bayside died Oct. 5 of cancer.
Rabinowitz, 85, graduated in 1936 from Madison West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He had been the manager at the general stores at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital.
A member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue, he also belonged to its Men’s Club.
He loved spending time with his family and watching sporting events.
Surviving family members include wife Shirley Rabinowitz (nee Moeckler); daughters Susan (David) Hegedus of Oshkosh, Phyllis (Anthony) Berman of Rochester, Minn., and Cheri (Steven) Levine of Bethel, Conn.; brother Bernard (Lorraine) Robbins of Milwaukee; sister Edith (Harvey) Hirsch of Hollywood, Fla.; sisters-in-law Rose Robbins of Milwaukee and Phoebe Rabinowitz of Bassier City, La.; and seven grandchildren.
Rabbi Gideon Goldenholz officiated at the funeral on Oct. 7. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.
