Milwaukee native Shirley K. Bamberger, nee Kniaz, of Glendale died May 26, at the age of 76.
She was a graduate of North Division High School in 1949 and attended Milwaukee State Teachers College. She worked as a corporate trainer for Boston Store and in management for Boston Store and Metropolitan Associates, a real estate management company.
She and her husband Robert were among the founding members of Congregation Sinai. She was a longtime member of Hadassah. She also volunteered as an usher for the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre for many seasons, according to her family.
She enjoyed local theater, classical music, opera and food. “She had a beautiful voice and performed in the community when she was younger,” her family said. “She had a very adventurous, fun spirit.”
Preceded in death by husband Robert Bamberger in 1979, she is survived by daughters Sandra (David) Brooks of Fox Point and Barbara Bamberger of San Diego; son Michael (Rosalee) Bamberger of Bayside; sister Rose Radtke of West Bend; brothers Harry (Lorna) Kniaz of Madison and Leon (Sandy) Kniaz of Elliott City, Md.; and four grandchildren.
Hazzan Mitchell Martin officiated at graveside services in Mound Zion Cemetery on May 28.
Memorials to Hadassah-Milwaukee Chapter and the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
