Longtime Oshkosh resident Sam Gorwitz died March 11 at the age of 97.
He was born in Sheboygan and served in the U.S. Army 52nd Quartermaster Corps during World War II. In 1957, he created Scoop Up Products Company, which manufactured the Super Duper Pooper Scooper. He also operated Projectograph Corporation.
He was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Oshkosh.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Gorwitz (nee Reidhauser); daughters Dr. Rachel Gorwitz of Atlanta and Sarah Beth (Andrew) Kalnajs of Madison; son David (Lori) Gorwitz of Madison; brother Harry (Jean) Gorwitz of Oshkosh; and a granddaughter.
A graveside service was held March 13 at Lake View Memorial Park with Gary Wolfman officiating.
The family has established a memorial fund in his name at Congregation B’nai Israel.
