Ruth Zevin Slomovitz

Longtime Milwaukeean Ruth Zevin Slomovitz died Dec. 24 of respiratory failure. She was 84.

Born in Philadelphia, she came to Milwaukee in 1941. She worked as an office assistant to Dr. Harry Kanin.

She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and the Milwaukee chapter of NA’AMAT USA, for which she served as president.

Her special interests included her book club, knitting, embroidering, baking and literacy volunteer work for the Milwaukee Project.

Preceded in death by husband Zachary Slomovitz, M.D., she is survived by daughters Elayne Ben-Bassat of Newark, Del., and Deborah Bunim of Ridgewood, N.J.; sister Miriam Brillman of Wyncote, Penn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated at funeral services Dec. 26. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
