Ruth Friedman Orenstein of Glendale died on Aug. 17 of natural causes. She was 88.
Born in Milwaukee, she was a graduate of North Division High School.
A past president of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s Women’s Division, she was also a member of Congregation Sinai.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Orenstein, in 2004.
She is survived by daughter Marlene (Bert) Bilsky of Milwaukee; son Dr. Allan (Janie) Orenstein of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rabbi David Cohen and Cantor Ruth Berman Harris officiated at funeral services on Aug. 21. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Jewish Community Foundation’s William and Ruth Orenstein Scholarship Fund would be appreciated by the family.
