Ora Kozochowicz

Longtime Milwaukeean Ora Kozochowicz, nee Fuks, died March 16 of a stroke. She was 84.

Born in Zamocz, Poland, she lived through the European depression and survived the Holocaust, her family said. In 1947, she moved to Israel where she raised her three children. She came to Milwaukee in 1957 to be reunited with family.

She was a member of Congregation Anshai Lebowitz and participated in a number of Jewish organizations, her family said.

She especially enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking and maintaining family ties across the country. She was very observant of Jewish traditions and reported having inexplicable mystical experiences, her family said.

She is survived by husband Nehemia “Henry”; son Izzy (Jan) of Mequon; daughters Sarah (Zion) Medina of North Miami Beach, Fla., and Becky (Rick) Haack of Pleasanton, Calif; sisters Tauba Biterman of Shorewood and Slava Reyzina of West Hollywood, Calif; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Rabbi Bernard Reichman officiated at graveside services March 17. Burial was in Agudas Achim Cemetery.
