Muriel Miller

Milwaukee native Muriel Miller (nee Miller) died on April 12. She was 85.

Miller passed exactly one year after the death of her husband of 60 years, Sidney Miller.

A graduate of Milwaukee State Teachers College (currently University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee), Miller worked as a special education teacher for many years. She was an active member of the Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue Sisterhood, Hadassah and ORT.

Miller and her husband retired to Florida in 1972, but after a couple of years Muriel decided to return to the workforce. She became a successful realtor there, won various awards and worked full-time until a couple of years ago.

“She loved it, and [her customers and co-workers] loved her,” said her daughter, Lynn Miller, of San Francisco.

Miller stayed connected to her friends from Milwaukee and helped many of them find residences in Florida.

“She was a loving mother and grandmother,” said Lynn Miller.

Miller is buried in Hollywood, Fla., with her husband and their late son, Jimmy Miller.

She is further survived by son Douglas (Ellen) Miller of Delray Beach, Fla.; brothers Jordan (Donna) Miller of Bayside and Burton (Marilyn) Miller of Plantation, Fla.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
