Milton M. Berman

Well-known local athlete Milton Meyer Berman of Fox Point died Sept. 20. He was 88.
He was born in Milwaukee and graduated from North Division High School in 1933. He was invited to tryout for a major league baseball team, however, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, spending four years in the Pacific theater. He attained the rank of first sergeant and received several medals for his service.

Recognized as one of the greatest Jewish athletes in Wisconsin, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Amateur Softball Hall of Fame in 1986.

He was a car sales manager at Selig Ford and Selig Chevrolet. He worshipped at Temple Menorah.

His survivors include his wife, Libby Berman (nee Salowitz); sons Steven (Mary) Berman of Whitewater, Alvin (Marice) Berman of Glendale and Jeffrey (Nancy) Berman of Milwaukee; and one granddaughter.

Rabbi Isaac Lerer officiated at the funeral on Sept. 23. Burial was in Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery.
