Milton B. Ettenheim, Jr., died of cancer on March 27. He was 85.
Born in Milwaukee, Ettenheim attended Whitefish Bay High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He worked as a real estate developer for Ettenheim & Zimmerman, Inc., and Zelm Realty in Milwaukee.
Described by his family as a “lifelong student of all things Jewish,” he was a former member of Congregation Beth Jehudah, Congregation Beth Israel, and Lake Park Synagogue; and he belonged to Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun at the time of his death.
According to his family, he was interested in prairie development and wildflowers. He also enjoyed bird watching and tutoring children in Jewish and secular settings.
Wife Toni Ettenheim preceded him in death in 2003. He is survived by daughters Nancy (Bruce Harvey) Ettenheim and Jenny Ettenheim of Milwaukee, and Janice Gidcumb of Redlands, Calif.; son Tim (Susan) Ettenheim of New York City; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Rabbis Michel Twerski and Shlomo Levin officiated at services on March 29 at Goodman-Bensman Funeral Home. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
The family appreciates memorial contributions to the Toni Ettenheim Art Education Fund at the Milwaukee Jewish Day School or to the Hunger Task Force.
